Energy is a bit overrated. The key thing is to spend as little energy as possible and still get things done. Why would you want to spend little energy? Because everything you do in the outside world gives you little time to tend to the gardens that are inside your world, inside your mind, inside your body.
So the first thing is to spend less energy digesting food. Skip dinner (so your body is not trying to digest when you sleep), go to sleep early, don’t expose yourself to news, avoid pop culture, don’t drink alcohol, try to only be around the people you love, and have a sense of surrender and gratitude.
This may seem like you are sterilizing your life. But it’s quite the opposite. When you have leftover energy to do whatever you want, then you have more possibilities than ever.
Sometimes I can pull this off. Sometimes I can’t. But I’m always trying.
